Further information

It certainly is the calmest of all winter sports; when Jack Frost and Mother Nature join hands, snow blankets the fields, the forests and pastures go quiet and the whole world goes into hibernation - this is the season for snowshoe hikers. The first steps may make anyone feel quite a plonker but after a few steps you will already feel more comfortable, and soon you will be walking confidently. Once you have got the hang of it, you are fit for your first snowshoe hike. Join us on a hike through the Tauferer Ahrntal/Valli di Tures ed Aurina and enjoy the clear air and often untouched snow. We try to be considerate when choosing the routes for our hikes, keeping in mind the wildlife that inhabits the area. Especially red deer and chamois must not be unnecessarily disturbed during the winter months in order not to waste their energy. On our hikes, we routinely come across tracks which may lead you to wonder where they came from. Birds, foxes, deer - our forests are home to many animals. We try to show them all due respect as we are walking through their habitat. Snowshoes were invented in the high north where people had to find a way of moving through snowy fields and forests in winter. In the Alps, snowshoes have developed into a popular winter sports equipment which allows us to discover a whole new (and very beautiful) side of the cold season.
